Passive anger is a type of anger where the emotions is suppressed inside. Unlike behavioral or verbal anger where the emotions are shown, passive anger tends to make itself more hidden. Although it may seem that this type of anger is socially acceptable, this does not mean that passive anger is without consequences.

First of all, we have the health consequences of passive anger. When emotions are not allowed to go out, this can cause health problems such as high blood pressure or insomnia. People tend to become nervous because of the suppressed emotions. If not controlled these emotions can bring some people into depression.




People that display passive anger tend to seek revenge in another way. For example when confronted to the person or situation that make them angry, these people tend to remain silent or become sulk. This is done with the intention of bothering other people. This is indeed a subtle way to indicate that they are not happy with something.

Another example of passive anger will be complaining behind the back of other people.
